Pro-burnout Body
If you are driven and high-achieving in nature, pay more attention to your pro-burnout body!
Recently, I took some time off due to a mild burnout. Juggling running a business, working and writing a book on the side put me in a state of exhaustion.
We're all familiar with the phenomenon of burning the candle at both ends: working hard all day and then spending long nights worrying about all the work you need to do the next day. Because you depend on it for your survival as a constant pushing on into the next day; or binge watch or playing videos that put your body in a continuous stress reactive mode, suppressing the mind-body connection and overriding the body's natural desire to relax and rest.
Driven people, who are big on delivery with a sense of urgency, tend to come with a pro-burnout body, in my view. They push themselves harder and often leave little margin for failure. While not watched closely, this working style can increase feelings of stress, exhaustion, and frustration.
Everyone experiences burnout from time to time, but the symptoms and effects may vary from person to person.
Watch for the early signs of burnout so you can avoid the negative consequences of working in overdrive for too long. If you're feeling burned out, here are some early signs to watch for:
• You're feeling a lot of stress and tension.
• You're constantly feeling overwhelmed.
• You're feeling like you can't focus or relax.
• You seem to be short-tempered with people around you.
• You feel tired all the time, and the quality of your sleep is getting poorer and poorer.
• You feel sad, helpless or hopeless sometimes. You are losing motivation.
....
If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself, take some time off to rest and relax. Try to get away from work for a few days or weeks.
You can recover from burnout if you're really committed to it!
re-evaluate the priorities list, and let go of a few of them!
fuel your body with quality food, and exercise more, under the sun, and in nature, they all have healing magic
create a space around you, that you can get in for NOT thinking ...
Once you understand your behaviours and develop strategies for better managing your time and staying organized, you can prevent burnout in the future and live a more balanced life.
