The cost of ego-driven emotional waster may weigh your business down

Recently, I rolled out a series of workshops for a client with 2000 employees.

The theme is 'Quality conversation, Quality Relationship and Quality Performance", which contains several subjects, such as "Coaching conversations with your Direct Reports", the "Conversation with Your Boss to Support", and the "Conversation with your Peers to Collaborate". and each subject takes a day or two to workshop, and is well welcomed.

Why the client is willing to invest this much time and money and energy to run these workshops?

Simple!
One of the biggest hidden costs for business, in general, is the quality of the conversation.

A quality conversation doesn't happen as a mindless act, as long as we can open our mouths to talk, then we are guaranteed with the high quality, to the contrary, each conversation we have, has its purpose and strategic intent.

Have you noticed within your business, how much time you spent dealing with drama and emotional waste on daily basis?

Such as:

  1. Lack of ownership, accountability and commitment

  2. Blaming the circumstances or others for lack of results

  3. Arguing with circumstances that were non-negotiable

  4. Resistance to change and improvement

  5. Defensiveness to feedback

  6. Lack of commitment to implement agreed strategies, and

  7. Projecting and believing in made-up stories instead of focusing on facts and reality

  8. ...

The list can go on!

When we communicate in the workplace, we carry all these ego-driven emotional wastes with us.  The research found that on average, employees and business leaders spent2 hours 26 minutes per dayin these dramas and emotional wastes, instead of performing what they were engaged to do.

So, in your workplace, how much time have you spent dealing with all these dramas? Or, the quality of the conversations you are having with your people, made your team's performance stand out from the crowd?
